Man scales 200-m-high skyscraper to take selfie
A young man climbed to the top of Wangjing SOHO in Beijing, apparently with his bare hands, and took several selfies at 200 meters high, Beijing Youth Daily reported Sunday.
The man announced his success in summiting the building by posing on Sina Weibo, China's version of Twitter. "I finally stand on the top of the landmark in Wangjing area, after half a month in preparation. The pinnacle designed by Zaha Hadid is really sexy." Along with the post, he also published several photos he took from the top of the building.
His post created a stir on the social media. A netizen replied: "Merely looking at the photos makes my legs tremble. You are terrific."
From the photos published, the man wore sportswear and carried a black backpack, with no special equipment around.
"It's too dangerous, there must be no such thing that happens again in the future", Pan Shiyi, the chairman of SOHO China, said.
"I calculated exactly the climbing routes and times, marked the camera position, and measured sucker's suction", the climber told the media.
Iraqi-British Zaha Hadid is the chief architect who designed the building. She is the first woman recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize.
