Couriers deliver packages by horse in face of tricycle ban

With mountainous orders from online shopping platforms thanks to the upcoming "Double 11" shopping frenzy, couriers in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, chose to ride horses to deliver packages to clients as the city released a new traffic regulation to ban all electric tricycles on the road, reported ecns.cn.

Carrying banners and riding horses, the couriers quickly became an Internet sensation as the photos cheered netizens on WeChat and Weibo, popular social networking platforms in China.

"We applied for a dozen horses from a pasture when learning about the traffic regulation last month. We will take additional measures for the upcoming 'Double 11' shopping season to ensure that the packages can be delivered on time," an area manager of an online shopping platform said.

"I worried that delivery would be delayed for a long time, but it surprised me that I received my package within half a day," a customer said.

According to records, riding a horse to deliver goods dates back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770BC- 476BC).

In our final story, 6 billion yuan worth of property is auctioned off in 6 hours.
