When faced with the harshest conditions, human beings can be really ingenious.

A Beijing school has built an inflatable gym on the playground, providing students an ideal place to play and exercise, even though the city’s pollution index is well beyond "hazardous", the highest level on the smog scale.

The air pressure is higher inside than outside, which could effectively keep away PM 2.5- particulate matter with a diameter less than 2.5 microns, which pose health risks.

Moreover, a filter system has been installed to transport filtered air into the gym.

Smog blanketed the capital for a fifth straight day on Tuesday, sending visibility in some areas down to 200 meters.

In our next story, plane windows are defaced by unruly passengers.
