Retiree's motorcycle diaries
Have you planned what to do after you retire? A man in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, who spent nine months travelling alone in China and Southeast Asia by motorcycle may provide some inspiration, according to a report from West China Metropolitan News on Jun 20, 2015.
Deng Zongquan, a retired man in his 60s, loves travelling and photography. In more than 9 months from last year to this year, he covered more than half of China including provinces like Sichuan, Shannxi, Ningxia, Xinjiang, and then countries in Southeast Asia such as Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.
His equipment is simple: a motorcycle, a tent, a pressure cooker and daily ingredients. They don't cost much.
Deng is not poor. He has cars at home. But he loves to travel by motorcycle, live in a tent and make meals by himself.
"I prefer to spend little on travel because I want to make myself stronger and taste life," Deng told the reporter.
Deng travelled almost 200 kilometers per day and covered about 54,000 kilometers in total on this trip.
