Asia's largest glass platform unveiled in Chongqing
A glass viewing platform that is the largest ever in Asia is near completion and will soon be opened in Chongqing's Wulong County, dfic reported on Monday.
The hanging platform, which is 11 meters wide and 26 meters long, stands 280 meters above Karst Valley in Wulong National Geological Park. The see-through viewing deck sits a cool 1,200 meters above sea level and will provide adventurous tourists with a breath-taking panoramic view of the landscape under their feet.
The platform joins the likes of other terrifying and record-breaking glass structures in China including the country's highest transparent skywalk and the world's longest horseshoe glass walkway, which are also in Chongqing.
Designed by more than 20 top-notch experts from home and abroad, the viewing platform is made from three layers of toughened glass. A single pane is able to bear a maximum weight of 10 tons.
The platform is due to open to the public before the upcoming week-long National Day holiday.
