Beijing will inject more funds into low-income housing projects, including initiatives to take over some available homes and offer them as low-income housing, Beijing Mayor Guo Jinlong said in his work statement at the Fourth Session of Beijing's 13th National People's Congress.

To increase low-income apartment supply, Beijing plans to increase 200,000 low-income apartments this year, either from building new apartments or renovating existing housing. Some 100,000 units are scheduled to be finished within the year, the report said.

Earlier reports said that Shanghai and Chongqing would collect property taxes on a trial basis in March.
