Fourteen central departments of China have to date released their 2012 budget plans, covering governmental fund expenditure blueprints for the first time since they opened budget information in 2010, Beijing News reported on Tuesday.

Information on department overviews, budget sheets, budgeting background, and glossaries has been released with illustrations and unified layouts in the budget reports of departments including the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF).

According to the budget report of NDRC, its expenditure this year will total 1.22 billion yuan ($1.93 billion), up 28.77 percent year-on-year. Its housing security expenses, including housing funds and allowances, will increase by 27.2 percent year-on-year to stand at 23.37 million yuan.

Meanwhile, the MOF will witness a sharp growth of about 34 percent year-on-year in its annual expenditure to reach 3.93 billion yuan this year, with its housing security expenses rising by 29.31 percent to hit 38.87 million yuan.

Budget plans are set to disclose more details of what central government departments spend on official receptions, vehicles and overseas trips this year, a move to echo the pronounced demand from the State Council of China urging them to open up information about the spending of public money.
