BEIJING - China's State Council, or Cabinet, on Wednesday appointed Hu Zucai as vice director of the National Development and Reform Commission, replacing Peng Sen.

Zhao Shucong was appointed director of the State Forestry Administration, replacing Jia Zhibang; Ren Zhengxiao was appointed director of the State Administration of Grain, replacing Nie Zhenbang.

Yu Xinrong was named vice minister of agriculture. The State Council also appointed Li Jie, replacing Zhu Jiamu, as vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Yang Mingsheng, who became the chairman of China Life Group last month, was removed from the post of vice chairman of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission.

Gui Minjie was removed from the post of vice chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission. He was appointed as board chairman of the Shanghai Stock Exchange earlier this month.
