Wison Engineering Ltd., China's largest private petrochemical engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, signed in Shanghai on Thursday a contract with Shandong Yangmei Hengtong Chemical Co, Ltd. to design a 300,000 tonnes per annum methanol-to-olefin (MTO) plant.
Along with this contract a license agreement was also reached for the provision of Wison’s patented technology and relevant technical services as well as the process design package (PDP) in respect of the olefin separation unit.
The new project represents another commercial application of Wison Engineering's olefin separation technology, and further enhances the company's comprehensive MTO project capabilities.
Under the project, Wison Engineering will undertake the basic and detailed engineering design of the plant, by-product and raw material storage installations, and utilities and ancillary facilities.
In addition to this project, Wison Engineering also licensed technology to Pucheng Clean Energy for its DMTO-II demonstration project, and Shenhua Coal to Chemical and Liquid Co. Ltd. for an olefin separation plant under the Shenhua Xinjiang Coal-Based New Materials Project.
Wison Engineering's patented olefin separation technology offers many advantages including low power consumption, low investment, stable operation, and a long operating cycle. At the same time, the Hengtong Chemical’s project will also incorporate PDP and patented methanol conversion and olefin cracking process technology developed by UOP.
The integrated application of these two patented technologies will help Hengtong to provide high-quality ethylene and propylene material for downstream processing of PVC and propylene oxide. The two patented technologies owned by Wison Engineering and UOP will be also jointly applied in the MTO unit of a coal chemical complex operated by Wison (Nanjing) Clean Energy.
"We hope that Hengtong Chemical's 300,000 tonnes per annum methanol-to-olefins project will further showcase Wison Engineering's comprehensive strengths in MTO projects. Furthermore, our extensive engineering design and project management experience are a guarantee for the successful application of this technology solution," said Liu Haijun, senior vice-president of Wison Engineering.
Shandong Yangmei Hengtong Chemical Co., Ltd. is an integrated chemical enterprise that specializes in coal chemicals, salt chemicals and cogeneration, and is the largest chemical, fertilizer, and fine chemical production base in southern Shandong and northern Jiangsu provinces.
