More than half of the buyers present at the 113th Canton Fair, or China Import and Export Fair, have accepted the e-commerce services provided by the fair's organizers, according to Liu Jianjun, spokesman of the event.

During the biannual fair, which ended on Sunday in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, some 118,000 buyers participated in online matchmaking events at the fair's e-commerce website.

Organizers of the event, which attracted 202,000 overseas merchants, launched the e-commerce services as part of efforts to diversify sales for Chinese exporters at the beginning of this year's spring session of the fair.

The Canton Fair E-commerce Co also reached a strategic cooperative agreement with commerce authorities in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on May 3 to provide e-commerce services to local companies to boost their presence in the global market.

Wuxi is one of the major manufacturing bases in the Yangtze River Delta region.
