Nidec Motor Corporation, the world’s largest intelligent motor manufacturer, has developed a new type of air-condition motor especially for the Chinese market while striving to boost sales in China to 50 billion yen ( 3 billion yuan ) by March 2016, ten times compared to that of March 2013, nikkei.com reported on Monday.
According to the report, Nidec will increase local operation investment in Pinghu, China's Zhejiang province, to provide the AC motors to Chinese air-conditioning manufacturers such as Zhuhai Green, Media and Hair.
Pushed by the nation’s energy saving standard, China’s large air-conditioning manufacturers are competing to use high-performance electric motors.
The new motor has changed the wire material for the main operating part from copper to low-cost aluminum, while maintaining high-performance levels. Instead of using components such as a driving brush and rotating commutator, the new motor utilizes electronic circuit for control, so it can be used for compressors on the inverter air conditioner.
The new motors will be produced at Nidec’s Pinghu manufacturing center.
Nidec is also planning to expand the large and mid-sized motor market based on applications within the area of operating precise micro-motor technology on hard disk drives.
