Carver finds fame, money in wood sculptures

Luo Yi, a 21-year-old from East China's Jiangxi province, works as a sculptor in a workshop in Zhengzhou, Central China's Henan province.
He became fascinated with wood sculptures at the age of 15. In the past six years, he learnt the skills from many masters. Thanks to their tutoring and due to his own diligence, he has gained fame in the sculpture circle.
Luo is good at carving flowers, birds, animals and idyllic sceneries. His works, vivid in themes, are sought after by collectors, generating an annual income of more than 1 million yuan ($149,000).
