(China Daily)
A nurse in Dehui, Jilin province, who made a mistake in reporting a new-born baby's gender earlier this month, made the parents so angry that they demanded a paternity test.
The mother, surnamed Liu, had the child at a local hospital on March 9 and was told by the supervising nurse that she had given birth to a male child.
But when she got back home and needed to change the baby's diaper, the he turned out to be a she.
Despite repeated claims by the hospital that it was obviously just a careless mistake by the nurse, the couple were still suspicious. Maybe they had taken someone else's child. After all, there had been news reports of this happening in China - taking the wrong baby because of hospital error.
After negotiating with the hospital, the couple decided to go to the provincial capital, Changchun, to have a DNA test done on the poor infant.
They are still waiting for the results.
