Adolescence education campaign benefits two million families
The launching ceremony of the 2011 family education campaign for adolescent girls was held Tuesday at China Women's Activity Center in Beijing.

The 2011 family education campaign for adolescent girls started Tuesday in Beijing. Two million families from 20 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, will benefit from the activity.

The campaign aims to provide a guide for parents on the family education of their daughters who are approaching adolescence, said Deng Li, director of the Children's Department of the All-China Women's Federation.

Education expert Wang Jianyi said that girls grow up fast during adolescence and they are yearning to become independent while still relying on parents. In addition to the school education, the careful and scientific family education is a key factor to the health of adolescent girls, Wang added.

This is the third year since the campaign was first launched by the organization committee of care for series activities. The committee plans to hand out one million booklets and 20,000 CDs about family education of adolescent girls in 2011. Moreover, 10,000 questionnaires will be distributed among the beneficiaries to research on how to improve the activity next year.
