Chinese FM meets Uzbekistan President

BEIJING - Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with visiting Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov on Wednesday in Diaoyutai State Guest House.

Yang Jiechi hailed Karimov's official visit to China as successful, during which Karimov and President Hu Jintao exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern and reached common ground on some important issues.

Yang noted that during Karimov's visit the two countries had made plans and arrangements for further development of the China-Uzbekistan friendly and cooperative partnership, which laid a good foundation for the strengthening of the bilateral relations.

Karimov said Uzbekistan attaches great importance to its relations with China and always views China as a reliable cooperation partner.

Uzbekistan appreciated China's diplomatic policies and shared common views on major international and regional issues with China, Karimov said, adding that Uzbek will continue its one China policy.
