President Hu urges fostering more military talents

BEIJING - Chinese President Hu Jintao has urged the fostering of more military talents to be used as the strong foundation for the country's national defense and military building.

Hu made the remarks in written instructions to a military meeting on the use of talents held Wednesday.

While congratulating on the commencement of the meeting, Hu, also chairman of the Central Military Commission, urged the entire military to fully realize the importance of talent cultivation and strive to foster "a large number of high-quality military talents."

Hu said these talents would provide a strong guarantee for the scientific development of the country's defense and military construction.

During the meeting, which was approved by the Central Military Commission, attendees exchanged experience on how to best use talents, and outstanding units and individuals were honored.

A guideline on the development of military talents before 2020 was also set for implementation at the meeting.
