New car recall regulation to be released

New rules governing the recall of cars will be released this year allowing manufacturers to recall vehicle components, the Shanghai Securities News reported Thursday quoting Liu Pingjun, vice director of China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

According to the report, the updated regulation will be stricter on supervision and punishment, which will higher the upper limit of fines for manufacturers from 30,000 yuan ($4,614) to one million yuan.
The move follows a recent scandal involving wheel manufacturers.
