A quick-tempered man in a hurry kicked an ambulance driver out of his cab and drove himself and his sick wife to hospital in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province.

The man surnamed Lin was worried about his unconscious wife who drank highly toxic pesticide after they quarreled with him on May 13.

Lin took his wife to the biggest hospital in Jiayu county and, after initial treatment, doctors decided she needed to be transferred to the provincial hospital.

On the way, Lin kept complaining about the slow speed of the ambulance and, after an hour on the road, he took drastic action. When they came to a halt at a red light in Wuhan, Lin broke the glass of the driver's cab and said he wanted to drive. Police said he threatened the driver with a fruit knife and kicked him out before racing to the hospital, where his wife was admitted to the ICU.

The ambulance driver reported the incident to police but ended up refusing to press charges because he sympathized with Lin.
