Ten more types of food and food additives imported from Taiwan were held up at the border ports after being found to contain the toxic plasticizer DEHP, Beijing News reported on Thursday, quoting the mainland's quality control watchdog.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ) named the tainted products from Taiwan on its website Wednesday - two types of food additive and eight types of food.
The administration said the products were not included in the tainted products list published by Taiwan health authorities and they were detected when they were checked at the entry ports. The products will not be sold in the mainland.
DEHP, or Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, is usually used to soften plastic products and repeated exposure to it could lead to testicular defects or fertility problems.
