As the national Teachers Day in China approaches, parents have been urged not to present gifts to teachers for the occasion, the Shandong newspaper Peninsula City news reported.
A middle school teacher with the user name Roberto Baggio said on the website qingdaonews.com, that many teachers were perplexed about how to refuse or send back gifts from students' parents around Teachers Day, which falls on Sept 10 every year.
Robert Baggio from Qingdao of eastern Shandong province, said parents should dismiss from their minds fears that if they failed to present presents their children would be ignored or ill-treated at school.
His plea won support from many parents, who said most teachers were honest, but some said they felt teachers would treat their children better if gifts were given for Teachers Day.
