China Garden opens at World Horticultural Expo

The China Garden officially opened to visitors in the Floriade Park in Venlo, the Netherlands, on April 4, the opening day of the World Horticultural Expo 2012.

China's State Forestry Administration was designated to participate in this year's expo on behalf of the country.

Zhang Yongli, deputy head of the administration, said at the opening ceremony of the China Garden that 2012 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Netherlands, and the Chinese government attaches great importance to participating in this year's expo.

Doeke Faber, president of the International Association of Horticultural Producers, who also attended the opening ceremony, expressed appreciation for China's participation, and said that the China Garden is a special one at this year's expo.

Taking up 1,500 square meters, the China Garden features traditional Chinese bridges and corridors, and displays traditional Chinese flowers, including peony, lotus and flowering crabapple.
