The Chinese capital is home to the largest number of companies that are most generously involved in China's philanthropic undertakings, Philanthropic Times reported Saturday quoting a newly released ranking of China's top charity donors.
Six out of the 22 companies that donated more than 100 million yuan ($15.91 million) to charity in the past year are headquartered in Beijing, according to a charity list compiled by Philanthropic Times and the civil affairs ministry after an online poll.
Among the 22 most generous company donors, the real estate sector stands out by contributing over 40 percent of the donations despite a gloomy market performance, although most of the top ten company donors are from the monopolized sectors.
In terms of individual donors, entrepreneurs based in the eastern province of Fujian dominate the list in terms of the number of people. Five Chinese lottery winners also made the list by sharing their lucky fortune.
