Xi Jinping promotes PLA general

BEIJING - Xi Jinping, chairman of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Military Commission, promoted Wei Fenghe to full general on Friday.
Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, conferred the rank of full general on Wei, a Central Military Commission member and commander-in-chief of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Second Artillery Corps.
Wei, in good spirits and wearing epaulet, shook hands with Xi and saluted the chairman, PLA senior officials and other attendees of the ceremony.
Fan Changlong, vice-chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, announced the order signed by Xi on November 17. Xu Qiliang, another vice-chairman of the commission, presided over the ceremony.
Central Military Commission members Chang Wanquan, Fang Fenghui, Zhang Yang, Zhao Keshi, Zhang Youxia, Wu Shengli and Ma Xiaotian also attended the ceremony.
