BEIJING - China on Thursday unveiled a platform for registering email address in Chinese characters, the first of its kind.
The platform was revealed during a meeting on multi-language email technology for APEC members by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC).
Wang Xiujun, deputy chief of the National Internet Information Office (NIIO), said at the meeting that multiple-language email technology helps non-native English speakers use Internet and narrow the Digital Divide.
Li Xiaodong, head of CNNIC, called for full support for multi-language email technology, which includes Chinese, from Internet companies, institutions and email service providers.
