China holds int'l quantum conference

HEFEI - The 2014 International Conference on Quantum Communication, Measurement and Computing (QCMC), opened on Sunday in Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui province, attracting more than 400 scholars worldwide.

This is the first time China has hosted the world's most influential biannual quantum conference, which will last until Thursday.

Experts from 28 countries and regions will discuss research, achievements and industrialization in the quantum information field.

"China's quantum information science and technology is developing very fast and China leads in some areas in this field," said Pan Jianwei, a Chinese quantum physicist and professor at the University of Science and Technology of China.

Pan won the International Quantum Communication Award in 2012.
