Malaysia-born Chinese Lee Yun Phin and Canada-born writer Zhang Ling won the Jury Prize at an awards ceremony for overseas Chinese literature on Tuesday evening in Zhongshan, Guangdong province.

Both writers were honored for their Chinese-language novels, which mostly depict the lives of overseas Chinese, according to the organizers.

The annual event, which was launched in 2012 to promote Chinese-language literature among overseas Chinese, received nominations for more than 200 Chinese-language works from 20 countries and regions this year, according to the organizers.

Zhongshan, in the Pearl River Delta, is home to 800,000 overseas Chinese, who mostly live in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.
