83% of HK citizens want Occupy Central to stop

HONG KONG - About 82.9 percent of Hong Kong citizens want the Occupy Central movement to stop and nearly 70 percent people believe the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government should clear the occupying areas, according to a survey.

The University of Hong Kong conducted the survey was conducted from Nov 17 and 18, and a total of 513 Hong Kong citizens were interviewed through telephone.

Almost 83 percent of the respondents said the Occupy movement, now in its eighth week, should end, while 68.1 percent said the government should clear the occupying areas.

The survey had a response rate of 65.9 percent, a sampling error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points and a confidence level of 95 percent.
