3 Xi'an: The capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province is famous for the Terracotta Warriors discovered in 1974.

Almost 200 heads of state and government leaders have visited the Terracotta Warriors, according to the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum website.

Visiting leaders include former Singaporean prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, former US presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, South Korean President Park Geun-hye and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Xi'an was also where Xuanzang, a Chinese monk in the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907) translated Buddhist scriptures that he acquired in ancient India.
