China's cabinet appoints, removes officials

BEIJING - The State Council, China's cabinet, announced a reshuffle on Friday.

Zhou Xuewen will replace Cai Qihua as vice minister of water resources, and Fang Xinghai will become vice chair of China Securities Regulatory Commission in place of Liu Xinhua, according to the State Council.

Chen Yulu was named vice president of the People's Bank of China and will no longer hold the post of president of Renmin University of China.

Yang Huanning, the former vice minister of public security, will now take up the helm as head of the State Administration of Work Safety.

The State Council appointed Yu Chunxiao deputy chief of the National Railway Administration, and Yue Zhongming director of the Yellow River Conservancy Commission.

Meanwhile, Weng Mengyong was removed from the post as vice minister of transport, and Sun Zhigang is no longer vice director of the National Health and Family Planning Commission.
