Last year, the honor guards attended the Victory Day parade in Moscow on behalf of China and the Sep 3 military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in Beijing, showing Chinese soldiers' heroic bearing to the whole world and winning acclaim from home and abroad.
Training in the honor guards is much more challenging than ordinary armies, and the intensity for male and female soldiers are all the same. Cheng, as the leaders of female squadron, shall not only focus on personal training and improvement, but make sure that all her soldier are in good mental and physical state and help them deal with difficulties in both life and training.
There are over 150 female soldiers in the honor guards, only 13 of them are needed for each task, which means the competition is really fierce. "All the girls are practicing very hard and they cherish every chance of performing," Cheng said.
Last year, Cheng attended the military parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II on Sept 3, finally realizing her dream of going through the Tian'anmen Square.
