Foreign leaders congratulate Xi, China

Optimism, hope voiced regarding direction nation, Party are taking

Foreign leaders, political parties and organizations around the world have congratulated Xi Jinping on his reelection as general secretary of the 19th Communist Party of China Central Committee and voiced confidence in the new CPC leadership's goals of deepening reform and opening-up.

They also expressed hope as the 19th CPC National Congress concluded on Tuesday that China will play a greater role in boosting stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and the world.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, chairman of the United Russia party, offered congratulation on Xi's reelection and said he strongly believes that the implementation of the resolutions of the 19th CPC National Congress will further boost China's prosperity and development.

Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, lauded the Party's introducing the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and said "the Party and Chinese people will definitely fulfill the tasks set by the congress and soon achieve the goal of realizing socialist modernization".

Bounnhang Vorachit, general secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and president of Laos, said Xi's "rich political wisdom and outstanding art of leadership have led China to make remarkable achievements" in its development. He said Xi's reelection shows the full confidence the CPC and Chinese people have in him.

Italian President Sergio Mattarella said China has set a series of development goals under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi as its general secretary.

Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's Workers' Party of Korea, said, "The Chinese people are on the road of building a socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era under the guidance of the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core."

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said China will continue to play a crucial role in promoting a robust and sustainable growth of the world economy and make greater contributions to the peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region as well as the whole world.

Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain said the Belt and Road Initiative "presents a practical solution to the uncertain global economic and political landscape", and Pakistan's government and people "stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Chinese people to implement the vision of 'building a community of shared destiny'."

Edgar Lungu, president of Zambia, said his nation "truly appreciates the support rendered under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation framework as well as the Twinning Program, both of which will greatly contribute to the acceleration of our country's growth".
