Writers from Hebei province were honored at the Beijing International Book Fair.

Each year the China Writers Association launches a China Writer Pavilion to showcase the literature achievements of a particular province.

More than 40 writers from the province attended the opening ceremony of the pavilion on Aug 27.

Among them are the China Writers Association’s chairperson Tie Ning whose ancestral hometown is Zhaoxian county, Hebei province, and the trio of local literature leaders including Guan Renshan, Tan Ge and He Shen.

During the five-day fair, the pavilion will hold a series of events related to the literature of Hebei province. A series of books featuring works by young Hebei writers were released after the opening ceremony.

These included Guan Renshan’s Ri Tou (literally meaning sunlight), the last of his trilogy about farming life.

A summit of literature in Hebei was held on Aug 28.

Shandong province, where Nobel laureate Mo Yan grew up, was the selected province last year.
