Qixi Festival in ancient paintings

This painting from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) is said to be painted by Qiu Ying, and is now in the collection of the Taipei Palace Museum. The women are seen gathering in the yard, worshiping facing the starry sky, making wishes for excellent needlework skills just like Zhinu in the folktale.
