'Logan' tops Chinese box office

20th Century Fox's action movie "Logan" ruled the Chinese box office in the week ending March 5, earning 342 million yuan (49.5 million U.S. dollars), China Film News reported Wednesday.
"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter," a Sony Pictures thriller, landed in second place for the week, taking in 305 million yuan. It has grossed 961million yuan since its release on Feb. 24.
Hollywood comedy "A Dog's Purpose" placed third, with sales revenue of 120 million yuan.
"Assassin's Creed," an adventure film featuring Michael Fassbender, took fourth place, generating 38 million yuan.
Rounding out the top five was "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage," which grossed 35 million yuan.
