Palace Museum has 1,862,690 registered cultural relics
The Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, has 1,862,690 cultural relics registered in its collection as of the end of 2016, according to Shan Jixiang, curator of the museum, on Wednesday.
A total of 1,683,336 of the items are recognized as very precious.
The result was given based on a previous check-up in the museum carried out from 2004 to 2010. The number of registered cultural relics stood at 1,807,558 in 2010, according to Shan.
"The museum will continue the check-up of its collection and update the state of items to the public," Shan said.
An exhibition of the new items checked from 2014 to 2016 is on display in the museum from March 15 to April 15.
