Jennifer Aniston is adopting a new dog.
The 'Marley and Me' actress - who was left devastated by the death of her beloved pet pooch Norman last year - has decided to start 2012 off in style by getting a new canine friend.
A source told America's Star magazine: "Jennifer decided to give herself a New Year's present to start the year off right - a new dog.
"She has been in mourning since Norman died."
After visiting the Utah-based Best Friends Animal Society, Jennifer, 42, fell in love with a shepherd mix and wants to give the dog a loving family.
The source added: "Jen is ready to give another needy dog a home."
Last year, Jennifer - who is dating actor Justin Theroux - got a tattoo in homage to Norman, by having his name tattooed on the inside of her right foot.
Explaining the inking she said: "That's my dog. My baby who just passed away.
"I never thought that would ever happen. It's just my way to pay homage to him - forever."
Norman, a Welsh corgi-terrier mix, accompanied Jennifer - who also has a white German Shepherd named Dolly - everywhere, including on film location shoots, but he passed away last May due to complications from his old age.
