Lady Gaga's mother believes the singer has got a "screw loose".
Cynthia Germanotta admits she started worrying about her 25-year-old daughter's mental health after watching one of her typically eccentric performances.
She explained: "When Gaga started emerging, when she was performing - I think it was at Joe's Pub downtown - and she was in her bikini performing 'Lady Starlight' and decided that night to ... actually light hairspray on fire.
"And some people left when that happened ... a lot of people stayed and thought it was cool. But her father and I were like, honestly, he said, 'I think she has a screw loose'."
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey for her 'Next Chapter' series, Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, also reveals she wants a football team-sized family.
The 'You and I' singer - who is dating 'Vampire Diaries' actor Taylor Kinney - said: "I want kids, I want a soccer team and I want a husband. I don't want to have one kid. I want to have a few. I want to experience that ... [but] not yet."
Now planning a media blackout, Gaga insists the Oprah interview - which is due to air Sunday (18.03.12) - will be her last for a while.
She explained: "The newest thing that I do, I don't read a damn thing. No press, no television, no, if my mom calls and says, 'did you hear about?' I don't want to know nothing about anything that is going on in relation to music.
"Other than this interview Oprah, I do not intend to speak to anyone for a very long time."
