Zelenskaia met Li when they were graduate students in Norway two years ago. The sweethearts decided to move to Shanghai and tie the knot after graduation.
"I've lived in this town, where Li works, for half a year, so it also makes me feel like I am coming home," she says.
Li Jiayin and her husband, 35-year-old Patxi Alberdi from Pamplona, Spain, also had great fun at the wedding. "It's splendid and joyful, very different from the Western ceremony we had in Spain," says Li, 33, from Changchun, Jilin province.
The couple were colleagues in Spain in 2005 and formed a romantic relationship three years later. Alberdi moved to Shanghai in 2010 after Li found a job in the city.
Every newly-wedded couple tied a love lock, a gold heart-shaped lock to a big heart statue on the stage, with the wish of an eternal love.
