Chinese actor and singer Andy Lau was injured while filming a commercial in Thailand yesterday.

Lau, who was riding a horse during the shoot, fell off the horse when the animal lost control of itself. The horse then stepped on Lau's back, causing spinal fractures.

The shoot was halted, and Lau was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He was then sent home on a medical plane to Hong Kong for more detailed treatment today.

"We will update everyone with any new developments on the matter," said Lau's public relations spokesperson.

No further details were given on the incident, according to staff of Net Ease, a leading news website.

Also as reported by Net Ease, a local insider revealed that Lau was working at a scene in Khao Lak, a city three hours from Bangkok. There were several horses on scene.

Andy Lau, 56, has enjoyed tremendous stardom in the Chinese speaking world since the 1990s. Hailed as one of the "Four Kings" of showbiz in Hong Kong, Lau has been working tirelessly in multiple genres, including acting and singing.
