Comment on "Tyranny of the majority rampant online" (China Daily, Aug 22)
I assume expressions on micro blogs are just that: expressions. Individuals do enjoy the right of expression and it does serve democracy. And different people judge things differently based on their own understandings and views.
Netizens have been criticizing a traffic policeman who was too busy with his job to take care of his sick son who ultimately died. But their judgment is based on their own social and economic positions.
In contrast, the police force sees him as a "model" because he performed his duties, sacrificing family and social responsibilities and didn't leave even to take care of his son.
Criticizing or praising the traffic policeman will not solve any problems. We have to look at the options he had and understand the situation from his point of view.
