China will defend territory
Comment on "Japanese govt signs purchase contract on Diaoyu Islands" (China Daily website, Sept 11)
Japan has never sincerely apologized for or introspected on its brutal actions before and during World War II, or compensated the Chinese people for the atrocities it committed on them from 1937 to 1945. Nor has it taken steps to clear the chemical weapons that its army left behind in China. Also, it has not compensated comfort women for the torture and humiliation that it subjected them to.
Instead of doing any of these things, Japan has now "bought" China's Diaoyu Islands from their "private owner", exposing its real character.
Japan's actions have infuriated China and its people, and Beijing will not back down from its solemn resolve to protect its territory at any cost.
