Corruption must be eliminated
Comment on "Fight affordable housing theft" (China Daily, Jan 17)
A friend of mine took her aged and very ill father recently to a local hospital to see a doctor and obtained a ticket to wait her turn. After waiting for a long time, she enquired with the reception staff when her father would eventually be able to see a doctor.
To her surprise, my friend found out that most of the tickets had been usurped by a person with connections to the hospital staff and he was selling them at the hospital gate for a premium. And shockingly, my friend was encouraged to buy one from him to consult a doctor if she wanted to consult a doctor.
Why has corruption become so endemic? We should root out corruption immediately.
