A 12-year-old girl from Hunan province gave birth just to collect evidence against men who allegedly raped her, despite the police insisting she was attacked by someone else. The case highlights that the police need to always act responsibly, said an article in Beijing News (excerpts below).
The reason Sisi gave birth was to find DNA evidence against three teachers she accuses of raping her.
The police investigating the case claim a 74-year-old man is the prime suspect and that the teachers are innocent.
Police conducted DNA tests on the old man, but there is no confirmation that tests were carried out on the teachers, despite requests by the girl for such tests.
This is absurd. According to the criminal code, testimony from the victim alone is not sufficient to decide guilt, but it is important in identifying the suspect or suspects.
Too many questions in the case remain unanswered.
