The communication industry, including mobile phone producers, must always remember that the price of its products is as important to consumers as any other products on offer, said an article on Beijing Youth Daily (excerpts below).
Currently, three out of four Chinese people use mobile phones, which is a huge market of information consumption. These products will continue to offer more technological choices. And options.
But consumers will also take into account their price as well as the technology on offer.
In the first half of this year, consumer purchases in the communication industry accounted for 1,380 billion yuan ($224.8 billion).
This actually represents less than 5 percent of China's GDP. Generally speaking, if an industry wants to be regarded as a pillar industry in national economy, its GDP proportion should be no less than 6 percent.
More supporting policies and reasonable prices should help the sector achieve this goal.
