Comments on "Xi calls for saving people's lives first after deadly quake" (China Daily website, Aug 4)
While I am saddened by the news of the earthquake in Yunnan province, I am optimistic that China will weather this natural disaster with flying colors as it has done so many times before.
President Xi Jinping has his priorities right: saving lives supersedes everything else. My heart goes out to the victims' families and survivors, who will have to rebuild their lives with the help of government.
The will of the Chinese people is like steel, which will help (and always has helped) them triumph over adversities like natural disasters.
