WASHINGTON - Former English national team goalie Chris Woods will become the goalkeeper coach of the United States' national team.

Woods will take the American posting while continuing his coaching role with Everton, as manager David Moyes had permitted. He has been with the Toffees as the goaltending coach for 13 years.

The 51-year-old was recruited by new US head coach Jurgen Klinsmann who talked to Everton before bringing in Woods. Everton's goalkeeper is Tim Howard who is also a member of the American team.

The US will play Ecuador in a football friendly on Tuesday in New Jersey.
