NANCHANG, Jiangxi province - The Chinese Football Association (CFA) on Thursday announced a one-year ban on a local soccer coach for verbally abusing the referee during a match of the 7th Chinese National City Games soccer tournament.

Wang Ke, an assistant coach of Xi'an, the capital city of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, broke into the ground during an Under-16 soccer match against Team Wuhan on August 23 and waged verbal attack towards the referee.

Wang was then sent to the stands but in the added time of the match he rushed into the field again and even had physical contact with the referee.

The CFA disciplinary committee also handed a three-month ban on a team doctor from East China's Hangzhou for his improper conducts.

The City Games, slated for October 16-25, had already held 44 events before the official start, aiming to reduce the cost of holding the quadrennial Games.
