LAGOS, Portugal - China lost to Iceland 1-0 in their third group game of the Algarve Cup women's football tournament on Monday.
Midfielder Fanndis Fridriksdottir scored the winner on a fast counter-attack in the 80th minute to inflict the straight third group loss on China, who appallingly managed no shots throughout the game.
"My players did not play what I wanted. I think their attitude are questionable," said China's caretaker manager Hao Wei.
Iceland head coach Sigurour Eyjolfsson said they know how to beat China as they triumphed in their last two encounters.
"I feel proud for my players' performance. They did not give China any chance with so good a defence," he said.
"I think China had some problem in creating scoring chances, but I don't know what's gone wrong with them," he added.
China will play against hosts Portugal in the ninth-place playoff on Wednesday.
