ANNECY, France - China won its second gold medal and two bronze medals in men's and women's 1500-meter short track speed skating Thursday at the 2nd International Military Sports Council (CISM) World Winter Games held in Annecy, a city in the southeast of France.
In the men's 1500m, Chinese skater Nie Xin clocked 2:16.337 and won the title. The German skater Christoph Schubert claimed the silver and Song Weilong, Nie's teammate, claimed the bronze.
In the women's event, Chinese skater Sun Huizhu earned a bronze medal, with the Italian Arianna Fontana and Martina Valcepina respectively winning the gold and silver.
In the interview after the event, Nie Xin said the race was helpful to bring in better performance in the future as he and his teammates not only had a valuable experience, but also gained better understanding of European athletes' tactics and techniques.
China so far has won two gold, one silver and two bronze medals in all the four events in the short track speed skating category.
