China beats Jordan to compete for fifth place

MANILA - Veteran Wang Zhizhi hit a match- high with 33 points and helped China overcome Jordan 79-76 in the 27th Asian Men's Basketball Championship here on Satruday.
With the win, China secured a fifth-place classification match against the winner between Kazakhstan and Qatar on Sunday.
Wesam Al-Sous led Jordan's rally in the final period with his corner triple with one minutes left, which gave Jordan a 74-73 lead.
After a timeout, Wang score on a layup and was fouled. He completed the three-point play, giving China the lead at 76-74.
Yi Jianlian then made one of his two free-throw shooting. Al- Sous misfired on a potential game-tying three-pointer. Yi then made in two more free-throws to secure China the victory and also to avoid repetition of their historical loss to Chinese Taipei in Friday's semifinal.
